Each of us brings unique value to our work. Our cultural differences, varied professional backgrounds, and personal life experiences are something to be celebrated, and their strengths leveraged. J. O'Brien Coaching was founded with this in mind and after making my own immense life changes, choosing to leave a job I enjoyed, a team I admired, selling my home, donating my possessions, and moving to a new country.
These bold choices in my own life illustrate how I approach challenges: with a mindset to think beyond conventional limitations and embrace uncertainty. The power of diverse perspectives, and my own journey has taught me that growth often comes from stepping into the unknown. ​I am comfortable with ambiguity and have learned to navigate situations where the path is not always clear. It is in these moments that I trust my instincts and make calculated decisions others might hesitate to take. I think that the right choice is the one that aligns with who we are at our core, even when it feels risky.

Jamie is an experienced leader, coach, and strategist in talent and organizational development, demonstrating success in developing programs and methods to effectively build strong and capable talent. He employs creative and results-focused approaches that help others create and execute development strategies that achieve professional growth to ignite performance across all tiers of an organization.
For more than 17 years, Jamie has consulted with organizations across a wide variety of industries and led high-performing teams to craft their talent development systems and develop their leadership practices. He has built and led talent development functions that design and implement programs which have a significant impact on business results and strengthen capabilities of individuals across the enterprise. Immediately prior to launching his coaching practice, Jamie dedicated more than 8 years to growing a talent & organizational development function from the ground up that served an enterprise population of ~30,000.
Jamie has coached and mentored across all levels of organizations; executive to front-line, to advise and aid their professional development journey. His listen-first approach leads to comprehensive and personalized plans with concrete actions that achieve objectives. His focus on human capital as a critical component of an organization’s ability to achieve its business objectives leverages an array of skills he possesses.
